The New Capital Strategic Portfolio UCITS Fund launched in December 2014 and encapsulates our macro-driven asset allocation process.
While it broadly mirrors a Cayman-domiciled vehicle launched in 2009, we introduced the UCITS offering to make this strategy available to a wider audience.
At New Capital, we believe asset allocation is integral to both portfolio construction and overall investment performance. A well-diversified multi-asset approach can also smooth returns and reduce volatility over a market cycle.
The Fund invests across global equities and bonds, commodities, real estate and hedge funds, aiming to offer consistent risk-adjusted returns across different market conditions.
Asset allocation on the portfolio reflects our strategic macro and market views, with various tactical positions also in place.
In terms of the equity and bond exposure, the Fund can be seen as the best of New Capital: positions in those portions of the portfolio – which make up roughly 80% – will overlap with our products investing in those areas. Fixed income exposure will represent the best calls – which are the result of rigorous analysis – in our Wealthy Nations Bond, Asia Pacific Bond and Global Value Credit funds, while equity positions will reflect the stock-picking expertise of our specialist equity managers.
While we do not offer funds investing in commodities, real estate or hedge funds, we have a track record of investing in in all three via the Cayman fund as well as our private banking background.
Lead manager – and our chief investment officer – Mozamil Afzal has worked at EFG Asset Management for more than 20 years. The Strategic Portfolio UCITS fund reflects both Afzal’s own track record in asset allocation as well as that of EFGAM.
The launch of this fund also signals a broadening of New Capital: the Strategic Portfolio is designed for clients looking for more diversified asset allocation solutions.
Moz Afzal explains how the New Capital Strategic Portfolio UCITS Fund takes a diversified, best ideas approach to multi-asset investing.
