The ECB's inflation target

The ECB’s inflation target – or, to be more precise, definition of price stability – is for HICP inflation in the eurozone to be “below but close to 2%.” While seemingly clear, it can in fact be interpreted in several ways, as Stefan Gerlach explains in this issue of Infocus.
